Motorcycle tours to China
2020: Expedition assistance is currently suspended due to the international travel restrictions.
2019: The modern SILK ROAD is constantly evolving and being upgraded. There’s some exciting new sections added to the ride, better paced riding with good facilities, fuel and modern hotels along the whole route to China.
2019’s Silk road adventure was 69 days for the whole expedition, with well paced riding, plenty of rest, whilst remaining very competitively priced, including all hotels, lodgings, local guides, fixers & supporting vehicles, from Kyrgyzstan & China to Thailand. The expedition also includes the costs of all overland travel permits, licenses, customs clearances as required. (which also includes the new permit regulations in Laos & Thailand).
2017 and 2018’s rides were both successful with small ride groups, with a mixture of bikes; Triumph 800 XRx/c’s, a Triumph Explorer 1200, plus the usual GS’s 800 and GS 1200 LC’s. It was nice to see how these big water cooled bikes performed through Asia with no problems at all these past 2 years.
Tyre wear seems to also be almost absent! All bikes completed the ride through to Thailand on the one set of original tyres, mainly running Michelin Anakee’s, fitted new for the trip. I’ve been noticing over the years that guys seem to be veering towards bigger more powerful bikes, as well as newer machines. Whereas when we started riding to China, we were all riding what-ever we could get our hands on! some old R80’s R100, plus an assortment of road bikes, all of which coped just fine with the pot-holed Asian roads, or even the ‘lack of’ Kazakhstan roads!
Nowadays – there’s much much better roads most places, even Kazakhstan has many new smooth roads and services in most places! and in reality these modern large semi-off road bikes are better prepared than ever.
2021 UK to China border
If you’d like a more independent ride out to China, you could join us from Bishkek,
Bishkek to Bangkok, includes all hotels, supported ride stages through Kyrgyzstan, China, Laos & Thailand and return freight of your motorcycle from Bangkok.
Return freight to UK is inclusive of; agents, shipping docs, de-berth to UK, outbound/inbound customs clearance to receiving agent.
Onward freight can also be arranged Wordlwide from the end of the trip in Bangkok.
We limit our ride group numbers so that we can use the nicest hotels and more family style accommodation which riders tend to prefer. Places like Kyrgyzstan also have very limited availability for nice places to stay, especially in the small villages.

Riders can join us on any section of the rides through Europe. Independent riders are also welcome to join or meet up with us along the Silk Road. We can provide route notes and advice for Kazakhstan which you can explore free spiritedly anytime.
